Dreaming of moving to Canada? The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) might just be the perfect opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Designed specifically to attract skilled foreign workers and international graduates, this program provides a straightforward pathway to permanent residency in Atlantic Canada, which includes New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
Important Notice
Effective April 4, 2025, the Atlantic Immigration Program is paused for the remainder of the year, as the full allocation for 2025 has been reached. This pause affects the acceptance of new endorsement applications and new invitations for employers to become designated employers under the AIP.
Full applications submitted on or before April 4, 2025, will continue to be processed. Applications submitted after this date will be closed.
How Does the Atlantic Immigration Program Work?
Unlike many immigration programs, the AIP centers around the specific needs of employers in Atlantic Canada. Companies facing workforce shortages become designated employers through their provincial immigration offices, allowing them to hire skilled international workers more effectively.
Are You Eligible?
If you’re considering applying, here’s what you’ll need:
- A Job Offer: You must secure a full-time position from an employer designated under the AIP.
- Relevant Experience: Applicants should have relevant work experience, although recent international graduates from Atlantic institutions can apply without prior experience.
- Educational Qualifications: Your academic credentials need assessment from an accredited credential evaluation service.
- Language Proficiency: Prove your ability to communicate effectively in English or French through recognized language tests.
- Settlement Planning: Prepare a detailed settlement plan demonstrating your readiness to adapt and thrive in your new community.
